Paso Del Norte Wayfinding

Paso Del Norte Wayfinding

Improve the way-finding aspects, promote a welcoming experience and shortening the wait times for people entering the United States. Informational signage was strategically placed for pedestrian users to have the most exposure to important requirements and information without stalling traffic behind them. With the amount of traffic the port receives every day, utility usage to keep the building heated or cooled was a major issue due to entrances and exits being open at all times. Large revolving doors replaced the existing entrances, not only to provide the throughput requirements but, also help reduce the amount of conditioned air leakage. Desert colors and native plant/landscape photography was utilized as “Art in Architecture” to soften the rigidity and stressful experience of the immigration process and promote a more enjoyable and welcoming experience.
